Be The Teacher

I believe that there comes a time in your yoga practice, very early in fact, where you become a teacher. You learn that the dedication to the practice IS the practice.

When you express passion about a subject, it draws questions from others. Whether it is snowboarding, baking or yoga – your pursuit of knowledge will result in you teaching others along the way. Speaking about subjects you love is a form of education for others.

It was the wonderful Sufi poet Hafiz who said “I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”

Trust that you know enough to play the role of the teacher. With this, comes the responsibility of being the teacher. Pass along knowledge, insight, and experience. Most of all, serve the student.

Embrace this role. You’re already doing it.

‎”One does not repay a teacher well by remaining a pupil.” – Nietzsche
